Gone are the days when a mobile phone was simply a practical communications device. Mobile handsets are now just as much an aesthetic trophy as a piece of technology, and appearance has become as important as functionality. So in this world of designer mobiles, how do you find the best phone for you?
The look
There are a few basic handset designs to choose from – one is the ‘chocolate bar’ design, this is a one-piece phone with keypad exposed. Next is the clam-shell design, and thirdly there’s the ‘slide’ phone. With these two final designs, the mobile keypad is hidden, so there’s less chance of you damaging the phone or calling someone by mistake while you’re out and about.

Having a phone that needs constant charging can be a nightmare. Always have a look at the battery life of the units you’re perusing – ideally they should offer no less than three days of use.
